The difference between Raw and Manipulated fractals.. These are the best definitions I could find regarding the two..
Raw Fractals are entirely done within a Fractal Program. Only minor changes are done within other software. That means if you slightly correct your colors, curves and add a signature and/or one-color-background and/or a frame to your fractal, then you are still allowed to submit your image here.
As soon as you do major changes to your Fractal in other software, like using filters, changing the whole color style, puzzling together different fractals to one image or layering different fractals over another by using the merge modes you don't have a “pure” Fractal anymore. That's also the case when you add smaller photo elements (stock images) to your fractal. It's manipulated so it belongs to this category.
We are sure many of you in the fractal world, here at dA, know of the terrible loss of one of the most amazing fractal artists *kram666. Mark was not only a fantastic fractal artist, but also a great friend to many and always full of the nicest things to say. I know I was always dumbfounded why he would ever fave any of my fractals when they never even came close to the work he did, but he was always full of encouragement and never once let a thank you go by without saying, "You're welcome." I know James and I will also miss the wonderful photos of his dear foxes, as well as his gentle free spirit that made dA a nicer place for so many of us. He will truly be missed by us all.
Every time we fire one up, we will be thinking of you, Mark!
A Tribute to
Some of his spectacular fractals:
"Turn on, tune in, drop out"
His beautiful urban foxes:

"I felt the call of the jungle, primal and clean. I felt my connections to the wild in every cell in my body; realized that I am among the trees, the plants, the grass, the sky. The trees know me and I am never alone. We are all one and we exist everywhere. It was like coming home to the greatest welcome back party imaginable. The love and purity of the trees surrounded and dazzled me. I went outside to lie in the grass. I needed to be there, to feel the dirt beneath my feet, the stars above my head and the wet grass in my fingers. The stars were like diamonds in a velvet black sky their light radiating beams of positivity and love down to us all."
If any of you would like to leave your condolences to his family, please visit his brother Simon's page ~Simon-Marks-Brother.
Also, we know many are wanting to keep his premium membership going, so we don't lose all his heartwarming photos on his page. If anyone has started a "Points Page" so people can donate, please let us know. Donating to his page will not help as the points will not be accessible.
We would like to thank =jim373 for allowing us to use parts of his journal.
